Build a Brekkie

Top Tips

  • Look for breakfast cereals with more than 6g of fibre per 100g
  • Aim for at least 1 portion of fruit or veg at breakfast time
  • Don’t forget yogurt, milk, nuts, and seeds all contain some protein
  • If possible, prepare breakfast the night before (e.g. overnight oats, egg muffins, healthy breakfast bars)
  • Pop some sliced wholegrain bread or brown soda bread into the freezer and toast when needed
  • Choose options with low added sugar, such as plain natural yogurt or no-added sugar breakfast cereals, where possible
  • Include water or milk with breakfast. Smoothies and juices should not exceed 150ml per portion and choose unsweetened options or make them yourself

Tryout these combinations

Healthy breakfasts contain wholegrains, fruit, and some protein.
